Patient-Reported Outcomes in Parkinson's Disease (PRO-PD)

A clinically-relevant, patient-centered, validated, home monitoring tool capable of detecting subtle changes in symptom worsening and improvement.

Global Access

The Parkinson Symptom Tracking App is freely available on iOS and Android in English and Spanish. In use by thousands of individuals with parkinsonism in over 100 countries.

Validated in English and Swedish.

We're now able to evaluate different rates of progression in different regions.

Machine learning ensures that enhanced participation leads to increasingly better models.

Population-Based Change Over Time

Find answers to our most commonly asked questions below.

Is the PRO-PD available as an App?
The Parkinson Symptom Tracking (PRO-PD) App is freely available on iOS and Android for all patients globally.
Can the PRO-PD be used for research?
Yes, all research requests should be directed to MAPI Research Trust, a non-profit organization overseeing the use, translation, and licensing of the PRO-PD scale.
Is the PRO-PD score modifiable?
There is a growing body of evidence suggesting it is, via diet, exercise, and a host of other modifiable variables. Please consider joining the www.MVP-Study.com to help us identify Modifiable Variables Associated with PD outcomes.

6-Month Change

In the MVP-Study, the graph on the left shown how individuals changed and the figure on the right shows the overall population-level change. The overall population trend toward progression is visually demonstrated by the shift to the right.

Women report fewer symptoms than men.

Are women less symptomatic or under-reporting?

Visualizing Improvement Following Interventions

Improvement following B-vitamin supplementation

This is the PRO-PD score of a patient that presented with a B-vitamin deficiency and a diagnosis of PD. Between February 2024 and Oct 2025, there was slow, steady improvement that she seems to be sustaining. These trends can be useful to patients and providers.

Improvement after Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery

Improvement after starting levodopa

In the 6 months following initiation of levodopa, patients reported statistically less anxiety, muscle pain, apathy, and improved sleep. All symptoms were set to “0” before starting levodopa, the red line shows their change in symptoms, from 0, in the 6 months after starting at least 100 mg c/levodopa 3x/day.

Enhanced Communication Tools

Patients have a way of documenting their symptoms.

The PRO-PD score can be uploaded into clinic charts into the SUBJECTIVE portion of the clinic note, saving providers time, and thus money, all while improving the patients’ ability to communicate their symptom diversity and severity.

How Accurate Is It?

Validated in English & Swedish.
